Welcome

The mission of Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Foundation is to engage medical students and young investigators in a personalized research experience with preeminent cardiovascular scientists, and to foster the next generation of leaders in the field.

2010-11 Medical Student Research Fellowship Program
The Sarnoff Fellowship Program offers research opportunities for outstanding medical students to explore careers in cardiovascular research. Applicants must be enrolled in accredited U.S. medical schools. Sarnoff Fellows conduct intensive work in a research laboratory, located in the United States, for one year. Prior research experience is not a prerequisite.

What makes Sarnoff unique is our lifetime commitment to the Fellow. A member of our Scientific Committee guides the Fellow during the research year and throughout the Fellow's career. The Fellow interacts with other Fellows, Scholars and Foundation leaders at the Sarnoff Annual Scientific Meetings, Sarnoff-sponsored regional events, and at other scientific conferences.

The Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Foundation is pleased to announce the 2010-11 Fellows

Dr. Jon Lomasney is honored with the First Annual Alumni Achievement Award

"Every time I've tried to give something back to this organization, I've received more." Dr. Jon Lomasney

The first annual Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Foundation Alumni Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Jon Lomasney on April 29 during the Awards Dinner at the French Embassy.

Jon Lomasney was one of the early Sarnoff fellows, starting his year in 1984. He was also one of the first Scholars, receiving the award in 1989. Jon has been a fixture and avid contributor at virtually every Annual Meeting over most of the life of the Foundation. In addition, he has served in leadership positions on both the Scientific Committee and the Board of Directors.

Jon has embodied Dr. Sarnoff's vision of a physician scientist. He continues a distinguished academic career at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, recently appointed Director of the new Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators with the responsibility of guiding the medical faculty as they develop innovative educational methods. Likewise, he has served as an important role model and mentor for numerous Sarnoff Fellows and Alumni in the early stages of their careers.

"It gives me great pleasure in presenting this first annual Sarnoff Alumni Achievement Award to a prototypical Sarnoff Alumnus and immensely deserving recipient, Dr. Jon Lomasney," shared Dr. Andrew Plump, Chair, and Alumni Award Selection Committee.
